The Challenge
Organisations face growing pressure to demonstrate genuine progress on carbon reduction, but proving the real impact of decarbonisation projects remains difficult. While many carbon accounting and ESG reporting tools exist, they often rely on retrospective, manual or aggregated data and are not always designed to track the performance of specific interventions in real time.
Inconsistent methodologies, fragmented data sources and gaps between operational systems and carbon reporting can make it difficult to establish reliable baselines, calculate avoided emissions and provide evidence that stands up to scrutiny. This creates challenges for organisations seeking to demonstrate progress to funders, regulators, customers and supply chains.
What we did
Electric Places is part of an international UK–Turkey consortium, led by Faradai, developing DECARBiz, a project-management platform for industrial decarbonisation.
The platform is designed to help organisations collect energy and emissions data, calculate carbon savings and produce reporting aligned with recognised standards such as ISO 14064 and the GHG Protocol. It brings together IoT-enabled monitoring, granular carbon accounting, supply chain insetting and project-level reporting in a single system.
The platform is being tested through pilots across industrial, municipal and supply chain contexts in the UK and Turkey. Electric Places is leading the UK pilot, helping ensure the platform is shaped by real-world user needs and is relevant to the UK’s regulatory, commercial and operational context.
Progress & intended outcomes
DECARBiz is a €1.66 million collaboration funded under the EUROGIA2030 programme and supported by Innovate UK.
The project aims to deliver a scalable, internationally aligned platform that helps organisations move from estimated carbon savings to more transparent, traceable and evidence-based decarbonisation reporting.
By improving how decarbonisation projects are monitored, verified and reported, DECARBiz will support better investment decisions, stronger supply chain accountability and greater confidence in claimed carbon reductions.
